Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do I need to bring with me?

    When you make the move to Pathways Retirement Residence you will be required to furnish your own suite.  This includes furniture, linens, tolietries and any other items required.  We encourage you to bring photos, momentos, houseplants and anything else that will make you comfortable.  Bar sized refridgerators and microwaves are allowed.  Please speak to the administration team to get a full list of required items.  Convalescent suites will have furniture and linens provided.

  • Is the retirement home secure?

    All outside doors are secured at night and all entry is supervised by a staff member.  There is professional staff available 24 hours a day.  You will have your own key for your suite which you can lock at your discretion.

  • Do you have an "emergency" call system to use in case of an emergency?

    For that added peace of mind, each suite is equipped with an emergency response system.  These buttons are located in each washroom and bedroom/living space.  With the pull of a cord, you will receive immediate attention from one of our care staff.

  • Will there be air conditioning in my suite?

    Each suite has its own air conditioning and heating system, which you can adjust for your own personal comfort.

  • Will I be able to bring my own vehicle?

    Yes, you are welcome to bring your personal vehicle.  Designated parking spaces are available for licensed drivers who have their own vehicle.  All spaces are equipped with winter block heater receptacles.

  • When can my family and friends visit?

    Anytime you want them to!  Our dedicated staff are available day and night to allow your loved ones access to Pathways Retirement Residence.   ****Visitor policies can change without notice due to any Public Health requirements, please ensure that you are aware of the current policy****

  • Can I go out anytime I want?

    Of course you can!  Pathways Retirement Residence is an independent living home.  You may come and go as you please.  For Fire and Safety purposes, we just ask that you sign out when leaving and sign in once you return.  The sign out/in book is located at the Front Desk.

  • Do I have to sign a lease?

    We ask all residents of Pathways to sign a lease agreement in order to ensure everyone is aware of their rights and the standards of our seniors community.  At that time, the charges for services will be explained and given in writing to ensure you are provided with complete financial information.  However, you are not held to a "long-term" lease and we will request 30 days notice if you wish to leave our community for any reason.

  • Are retirement homes regulated?

    Retirement homes are regulated by the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA) in accordance with the Retirements Home Act. Other legislation that set standards for retirement homes include:  Residential Tenancies Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Fire Proctection Act, the Personal Health Information Protection Act and the College of Nurses Standards.
